Kathmandu to Dubai Flight Ticket Price 2026 — Fares & Tips

Dubai is one of the quickest international trips from Nepal — a direct flight of roughly four to four and a half hours. But the same seat can cost very different amounts depending on when you fly, and the reason is specific to Nepal: the Kathmandu–Gulf route is shared with hundreds of thousands of Nepali workers, and their travel patterns move the fares.

Understand that, and you can save a lot on a Dubai trip.

Direct Flights from Kathmandu to Dubai

Route Airlines Flight Time
Kathmandu (KTM) → Dubai (DXB) flydubai, Nepal Airlines About 4–4.5 hours
Kathmandu (KTM) → Sharjah (SHJ) Air Arabia About 4–4.5 hours

Sharjah is worth considering. It is roughly 30–45 minutes by road from central Dubai, and fares are often lower. For a holiday package, the transfer is arranged either way.

Typical Ticket Prices

Indicative economy fares per person. Real prices change daily with demand, fuel and exchange rates.

Ticket Quiet Months Peak Periods
One way, KTM → Dubai NPR 25,000 – 35,000 NPR 40,000 – 60,000+
Return NPR 45,000 – 65,000 NPR 75,000 – 100,000+

If you are booking a holiday, the flight is usually cheaper inside a package than bought separately, because agencies can access group and inclusive fares.

Why the Fares Jump — The Nepal-Specific Pattern

Unlike Maldives or Bali routes, flights to the Gulf carry large numbers of Nepali workers. Their travel is concentrated around festivals:

  • Before Dashain and Tihar: Gulf → Kathmandu flights fill up as workers come home. Kathmandu → Dubai is often easier.
  • After Dashain and Tihar: the reverse. Kathmandu → Dubai fills up as everyone returns to work, and one-way fares out of Kathmandu can rise sharply.
  • December–January: Dubai’s best weather and holiday demand, especially around New Year.

Practical tip: if you want a Dubai holiday around the festivals, travel before Dashain rather than immediately after Tihar. For festival timing, see our Dashain and Tihar holiday guide.

Cheapest and Most Expensive Times

Period Fares Dubai Weather
May – September Often lowest Very hot, 40°C+
Late September – early October Moderate Hot, easing
After Dashain–Tihar High from Kathmandu Pleasant
Mid-December – early January Highest Best, 20–28°C
Mid-January – March Moderate to high Excellent

Baggage — Check Before You Pay

This is where “cheap” fares become expensive. Low-cost fares may include only cabin baggage, and adding checked bags later costs more than choosing a fare with baggage included. If you plan to shop in Dubai, pick your baggage allowance at booking — not at the airport on the way home.

Six Ways to Pay Less

  1. Book 6–8 weeks ahead, earlier for December.
  2. Compare Dubai with Sharjah.
  3. Avoid flying out of Kathmandu straight after Tihar.
  4. Be flexible by a day or two — midweek is often cheaper.
  5. Include baggage upfront if you will shop.
  6. Consider a package — flights, hotel, visa and transfers together often cost less than booking separately.

Before You Fly

Frequently Asked Questions

How long is the flight from Kathmandu to Dubai?

About four to four and a half hours direct.

Is Sharjah Airport far from Dubai?

No. It is about 30–45 minutes from central Dubai by road, depending on traffic.

Is a Dubai package cheaper than booking myself?

Often, yes — especially in peak season. A package also puts the visa, flights, hotel and transfers in one booking, with one point of contact if anything changes.

What is the cheapest month?

Summer months are usually cheapest for flights, but the heat limits sightseeing. For balance, look at late October to November, avoiding the post-Tihar rush out of Kathmandu.
